In the words of an iconic African American figure from the 19th-century, Frederick Douglass: There could be no progress without struggle!
Facing different challenges throughout daily life is part of growing and becoming who we are supposed to be. The problems that come our way can be considered as path builders to a better and brighter future. You can either take the positives from these challenges or wallow in pity over them.
As students, optimism is only a small aspect that is needed to achieve better grades and overcome challenges; if by any chance you fail a class positiveness will help you work stronger to fix what has been ruined. Finding silver linings is important – keep in mind that the silver lining you are searching for might not appear at first, or it might not be as clear as day sitting idly by for you to find; however, with persuasion, optimism, and strong will you will be able to find it!
Challenges that we may face at university include balancing school, career, family, and staying motivated. An advantage to studying remotely is the flexibility, however, a disadvantage can be the lack of face-to-face interaction with peers; even with the hybrid return things never really went back to normal. Therefore, you must put in a personal effort to become more socially engaged in order to keep yourself motivated in a balanced life.
To overcome the struggles and progress you can:
1. Be cognizant of the areas you need to improve
2. Value your goals and work towards them
3. Put time and money into your academic journey
4. Maintain self-awareness and defeat adversity
5. Enrich your sense of joy and productivity
6. Be mindful of your strength and abilities
